Alter Metal Recycling Raises Over $100,000 for GiGi’s Playhouse Madison
Game-Changing Donation Supports Free, Purposeful Programming for Hundreds of Local Families

Madison, WI — In a powerful show of community support and corporate generosity, Alter Metal Recycling’s Southern Wisconsin Region, raised over $54,000 for GiGi’s Playhouse Madison through their month-long GO Green for the Green fundraising campaign in April. Inspired by the Playhouse’s mission to serve individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities, Alter Trading Corporation matched their region’s total dollar-for-dollar— totaling in over $108,000 of donations into a transformational impact for the local nonprofit.

Alter’s Go Green for the Green fundraising success was amplified by the generosity of Alter’s customer and supplier network, with the largest single donation coming from Schmidts Auto of the Madison area, a valued longtime partner of Alter.

“We are blown away by Alter Metal’s generosity,” said Kelly Antonson, Executive Director of GiGi’s Playhouse Madison. “These funds will ensure we can continue providing free, purposeful programming to over 400 families in the greater Madison area and positively affect thousands of people in our community. For a small nonprofit like ours, this is a game-changing gift.”

Alter’s Southern Wisconsin region took the lead not only in matching funds, but also in advocating for GiGi’s Playhouse within their business network. Their passion for inclusion and meaningful impact sparked new conversations and new supporters.

“We are so happy to have been able to work with GiGi’s Playhouse for our Annual Go Green For the Green Event,” said Amanda Hauser, Alter’s Account Executive rep. “Every year our team members, along with some of this region’s greatest customers and suppliers, help in showing how much Alter takes pride in community involvement.  This year’s donation was the largest thus far, and we hope to continue to impact our local communities for many more years to come.”

GiGi’s Playhouse Madison is part of a national network of Playhouses providing free educational, therapeutic, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome. Every dollar raised supports the Playhouse’s vision of a world where individuals are accepted, included, and celebrated

The success of this fundraiser not only enhances the Playhouse’s ability to serve but also lay the foundation for a unique, growing partnership between Alter Metal Recycling and GiGi’s Playhouse Madison.
