Leadership is How Our Playhouse Grows

Sarah Berndt- Vice-President

Our Playhouse is lucky to have incredible leadership, which allows our Playhouse community to grow. In our eight years of serving the Madison community, there have been many individuals who have contributed to our success. Each person brings their own talents to our team and assists in various ways. We are thrilled to share that Sarah will be moving into the Vice-President role on our Board!

When she was asked if she was interested in joining our Board of Directors in Summer of 2022, her immediate response was “YES”. She didn’t care in what capacity, she just knew she wanted to contribute.

Sarah shared her ‘why’ for taking on the Vice-President role: “Exciting things are happening at GiGi’s Playhouse Madison and I’m just so grateful to be part of it – we’ve welcomed almost 400 families, added our first career development program (Achievers) and are becoming a known name in the community. As I step into this new leadership role on the board, I look forward to being able to contribute my passion for inclusive opportunities and community advocacy toward advancing the GiGi’s mission, and empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families. “

Sarah has an incredible background and experience with owning and running a successful business and has both talent and passion for marketing. She quickly became the Marketing Chair on the Board and has spearheaded marketing planning and brand vision for our events. You will also find her volunteering at outreach and fundraising events throughout the year.

In addition to volunteering her time and talents, Sarah is also a Playhouse mom. Her daughter, Addi, attends our programming and her son, Charlie, and husband, Shawn, are also frequent visitors.

With Camilla McKay, current Vice-President, moving out of state with her family, Sarah agreed to move into the Vice-President role much sooner than anticipated.

We are grateful for all Sarah has already done for our Playhouse and are excited for what’s to come.
