Volunteering with Heart

Volunteer Spotlight: Heidi, Site Assistant

Heidi is a native of Fargo North Dakota and moved to Wisconsin the summer of 2015. She attended the University of North Dakota and taught Title Reading for many years at the elementary level. Heidi lives in Cottage Grove with her husband, Jim, and has been a stay at home mom for the past ten years to her three daughters Hannah, Miah, and Sophie.

Heidi served as secretary for a Figure Skating club for 10 years and has volunteered with Jr. Achievement and Schools of Hope. In her spare time Heidi enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga, traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.

She first learned about the GiGi’s Playhouse organization through her friend, Kristen, who has a son with Down syndrome and is part of the Playhouse in North Dakota. Heidi learned about the Madison Playhouse through a friend she made when she moved to the area and began volunteering in December 2018 as our Site Assistant because she was interested in learning more about the free, purposeful programming and what they had to offer.

The staff, volunteers and families are a few of the reasons she loves volunteering at the Madison Playhouse and since 2018, Heidi has volunteered over 281 hours! She has been instrumental in keeping the playhouse running during our transition phase this year and is always a bright, shining face to anyone that comes in.

We are so grateful to Heidi and how willing she is to help with whatever is needed.

THANK YOU, Heidi, for being a beacon of love and light to everyone at our Playhouse!
