Unlocking Potential Through LMNOP: A Tribute to Liz’s Dedication at GiGi’s Playhouse 

At GiGi’s Playhouse Hoffman Estates, our mission is to create a world where individuals with Down syndrome and their families are celebrated and supported. One of the ways we fulfill this mission is through our LMNOP program – Language, Music, N’ Our Peeps. Today, we’re thrilled to share the heartfelt reflections of Liz, one of our dedicated leaders, on her journey with LMNOP. 

“I love being a part of LMNOP!” Liz exclaims. As a former Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our LMNOP sessions each week. Through music-based lessons, Liz guides our young families on a journey of language development and vocabulary growth. “Our sessions focus on language development and vocabulary growth through sign language and songs,” she explains. “Signing is an incredible communication bridge for babies as their verbal skills develop.” 

For Liz, LMNOP is more than just a program; it’s an opportunity to give back to families who are just beginning their journey. “As a mom to an awesome 13-year-old with Down syndrome, I remember our early years,” Liz shares. “I was constantly seeking out families of older children, trying to learn from them, trying to gather up all of the information I could.” Now, through LMNOP, Liz can be that resource for others, sharing her knowledge and experiences to support and empower families along their path. 

LMNOP holds a special place in Liz’s heart because it fosters connection and community. “Signing provides a wonderful way for families and caregivers to communicate with their baby while also supporting and facilitating the baby’s developing language skills,” she says. Each Tuesday, as Liz walks through the doors of GiGi’s Playhouse, she is reminded of the profound impact we have on each other’s lives.
