Meet Gabbi! 

Hello, my name is Gabbi Anker. I from Polk City, Iowa. I am a recent graduate of Iowa State University where I majored in Child, Adult, and Family Services with my focus being on children. Some of my hobbies are biking, kayaking, and running. I love the summertime and doing everything outside when it’s warm! I enjoy shopping and getting my nails done. One of my favorite things to do is to travel and find new places to explore and learn about.

I began working with children when I was twelve years old and have been working with them ever since. From being a nanny, respite care provider, and teaching for a before and after school program, I have met so many wonderful families and children. Those families and children are the ones who fired my passion for my major in college. I knew that I loved getting to help families out while also getting to spend time and see the children grow. After this summer, I plan to find a career where I can live my passion out and continue to work with families and children.

I first learned about GiGi’s when I attended the first GiGi University graduation in 2015. It was during that time that I fell in love with this place and everything it stood for. Since then, I have participated in the 5k and volunteered for the gala and have got to experience the amazing events that GiGi’s puts on. I am looking forward to being a part of the summer programs and the golf outing this summer. I can’t wait to get started with summer and to get to meet all the families involved here at the playhouse!

Meet Jalen! 

Hi, my name is Jalen Parrington and I am recent graduate of Iowa State University. At Iowa State I majored in Child, Adult and Family Services with an emphasis in children and families. I also have a minor in General Business.

I am from Eden Prairie, Minnesota and had discovered GiGi’s Playhouse in the Twin Cities when I took the little boy I was nannying that summer. I found out about the Des Moines location and was interested in the opportunity to help out here!

I have always enjoyed working with children from nannying to working in a daycare. My passion is helping make a positive impact in children’s lives and helping families in need. After this summer, I want to pursue a career working with children.

When I am not working I love to be with my family and friends. I love to play tennis and golf. I also enjoy reading, being outside and traveling.
