Welcome, Carissa!

We are thrilled to welcome our new intern, Carissa, through the Capstone program at Cleveland State University!

“Hello! My name is Carissa Bellino and I just received an internship position at GiGi’s Playhouse for the Fall 2019 semester. Throughout my internship, I will be tutoring students in both math and literacy, helping parents and volunteers around the Playhouse, and assisting and leading programs. I am currently a Pre-Occupational Therapy senior at Cleveland State University and will be obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences this upcoming December. Summer 2019, I applied to the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program at Cleveland State University and the Master’s Program at the University of Findlay. Since joining the GiGi’s community a year ago, I have felt extremely welcomed by parents, volunteers, and staff. During my time as a math and literacy tutor, it has brought me great joy to watch my students succeed through purposeful progressions. Thanks to the amazing math and literacy resources that GiGi’s Playhouse has to offer, one of my students has went from recognizing and verbalizing numbers one through five to now recognizing and verbalizing numbers one through ten. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with all of the participants. This will definitely prepare me for not only my fieldwork in graduate school, but also throughout my future career as an occupational therapist. Thank you to everyone at GiGi’s Playhouse for allowing me this amazing opportunity!”
