Literacy Tutoring Program Success!

The GiGi’s Playhouse Literacy Tutoring Program uses a methodology with documented success based on the research by professionals in the field. Trained tutors work at the level of the child, continually challenging and encouraging him/her while utilizing a combination of personalized sight word and project-based approaches with commercially developed programs, books, and online resources. This literacy tutoring program includes, not only direct instruction with the child, but education for parents, school teachers, and other therapists as well.

Our one-on-one literacy program has made an impact in the lives of some of our participants. A few of our parents shared their recent experiences with their child’s tutor.

“Colin had an amazing experience with Nicole as his literacy tutor. She spent the first session getting to know his personality and motivations, in addition to his reading level. We discussed our priorities for the sessions, including a special focus on increasing his comprehension. Colin is a great reader but understanding and discussing what he has read and staying focused are both huge challenges for him. Nicole pulled together a whole assortment of games that incorporated movement, visuals and motivating rewards to keep him excited and engaged during the entire session. Her dedication as a tutor was incredible and she really made a difference for Colin! We are so appreciative of Nicole and all tutors that are part of the GiGi’s family.”

“I love seeing my son come for purposeful play for his tutoring. He enjoys the time with his tutor as she creates obstacle courses for him to burn off energy while improving his literacy skills. Amazing!”

“My daughter’s tutor believes in her. That’s so important! She knows she can achieve the goal that day as the tutor sets her up for success. This has been such a positive experience for us. We love GiGi’s Playhouse!”
