GiGi’s Gives Back

As a non-profit organization, GiGi’s Playhouse spends a lot of time fundraising and asking for donations and volunteers.  It is a privilege to have opportunities to give back to the community when we can. We were lucky enough to have not one but two such opportunities this summer!

In July, our Teen Tastic group took a field trip to the Blessings in a Backpack workspace in Milton.  There, we learned about their mission to provide food to children on Fridays as they leave school ensuring that they have satisfying and nutritional food for the weekend. Several of our teens brought food with them to donate. Then our group worked together to pack 100 bags of food! They also wrote encouraging notes to the children letting them know that they are loved. It was an impactful day with a beautiful message of giving that we will carry with us.

In August, our adult EPIC group got in on the charity action! EPIC meets at the Children Helping Children space in Midtown.  To thank them for the use of this space, we spent a morning packing “Be Well Bears” with toys and activities to be delivered to the children’s hospital. Our adults also wrote notes of encouragement for the children who received these precious bears.

Here at GiGi’s Playhouse, we will continue to look for more ways to give back to our community who so graciously gives to us!
