Programs: As GiGi's Playhouse Wausau prepares to offer purposeful, progressive, therapeutic, educational, social and career training and continuing education programs throughout the month and on the weekends at designated times we are on the lookout for volunteers. Program Leaders and Assistants are needed for each of the following programs.

LMNOP designed for pre-natal diagnosis to 36 months

An interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities.

Destination Discovery for all ages

Supports the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer to peer interaction in a causal and fun setting. This program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships.

Fantastic Friends for 18 years and older

Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual fun setting. Along with their peers without Down syndrome, adult participants participate in the planning of activities so that group activities are based on personal interests. During Fantastic Friends, the group may participate in active games, dancing or exploring their local community by participating in outings and events.

Special Olympics Young Athletes for 2 to 10 years

Is an early childhood play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities. Young Athletes introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. Young Athletes offers families, teachers, caregivers and people from the community the chance to share the joy of sports with all children.  Young Athletes provides children of all abilities the same opportunities to advance in core developmental milestones. Children learn how to play with others and develop important skills for learning. Children also learn to share, take turns and follow directions. These skills help children in family, community and school activities.

Committee Members and general volunteers are needed for the following:

Outreach Committee

Build relationships with schools, therapy centers, medical professionals, community organizations, local businesses, etc. to spread the word about GiGi's Playhouse coming to this community!

Marketing Committee  

Execute communications to families, donors and community members including social media, monthly e-newsletter, periodic blog posts and content updates to website, all using GiGi’s Playhouse’s standardized templates and tools. Also seeks ways to engage with the local media to promote GiGi’s Playhouse coming to our community.  Specialized technology experience not required.

Fundraising and Events

The fundraising committee builds a fundraising execution plan to achieve funding goals from a mixture of events, grants, donations and campaigns.  Identify major donor opportunities, research, write and follow-up on grants, execute donor presentations and ensure proper donor acknowledgements and stewardship.  From logistics and planning to promoting of our largest fundraising events!

Program Committee  

With a lineup of our 4 programs, this committee will learn about family availability to establish initial program days and times, recruit program volunteers and ensure proper training and rollout of programs as our playhouse opens.

Finance Committee  

Responsible for ensuring the financial health of the Playhouse. The finance committee helps build budgets, helps ensure the whole board understands the financial health of the organization and establishes the bank relationship.  NOTE:  The national office manages all bookkeeping, reconciling funds, and entering transactions into financial systems.

Administrative/Organizing/Cleaning

We need various volunteers to help with putting program materials together, organize the Playhouse and help maintain the Playhouse!
