Volunteer of the month!

Meet Tessa Green!

She was a volunteer here for the fall, winter and spring. She completed her Occupational Therapy Fieldwork hours here, leading GiGiFIT for Teens and the evening GiGiFIT Adult program.

Since October 2025, volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse Syracuse has become such a meaningful experience. Volunteering primarily with GiGiFIT, while also helping with Achievers, TeenTastic, and special events like the Halloween party, has created so many memorable moments and connections. From the very first visit to the Playhouse, the welcoming environment and close-knit sense of community stood out immediately and inspired a desire to get involved. The most rewarding part of volunteering has been building relationships with the participants and their families. Seeing participants begin to recognize familiar faces through consistent attendance — and being greeted with smiles, high fives, and hugs — makes every visit incredibly special. Volunteering at GiGi’s is an experience that truly grows both your brain and your heart, and it has already had a lasting impact that will carry into a future career as an occupational therapist. Most importantly, there is so much gratitude that GiGi’s Playhouse exists as a place of support, achievement, and belonging for participants, families, and volunteers alike.
