What the Gala gives you.

It is a favorite time of year around GiGi’s Playhouse. Busy volunteers all coming together to not only deliver FREE purposeful programs but also to assist in the planning for the biggest event of the year! The ‘i have a Voice’ Gala is a night we gather, get fancy and dig deep to ensure this gift of GiGi’s Playhouse can continue to educate & inspire right here in Syracuse! Today we welcome our friend Beth Craver to share what YOU will get when you attend this life-changing event.

I’ve been eating healthy, slathering on the self-tanner and growing out my bangs. I’m planning on something glittery and the baby sitter has been booked. I’m talking about preparing for the hottest event of the year, GiGi’s “i have a Voice’ Gala.

When you go, you are guaranteed a good time; a fancy yet festive affair. Philanthropy fills the air as old and new friends hob-nob throughout the silent auction items and listen to the talented ramblings of a live auctioneer. The Gala has this way of balancing its high-end endeavors with entertaining delight. It allows the loving fans of all things Down syndrome to support a cause AND let loose. As the dance floor fills around the band and people chatter amongst the line for the photo booth, laughter booms from room to room.

Don’t expect to just see parents escaping responsibility either. Last year I spent a greater part of my night playing on the floor with some adorable twins who have that little something extra. The night is filled to the brim with good feels that mean something.

But it’s more than bursting joy… I also inevitably bawl every year when I hear the stories of humans being heroes. Self-advocates, moms, dads, and loved ones tell big stories about being brave. It’s empowerment at its finest and it changes you. You leave that room armed with kindness and strength, ready to fight the good fight.

GiGi’s Playhouse is on the frontline and on THIS night we all become their warriors; not just because we give what we can monetarily but because we pledge to do the work of spreading kindness and acceptance around the world like dandelion fluff. Supporting GiGi’s Playhouse is a delectable mission. The night feeds the infectious desire we all have to help those who need our help.

Sure, the Gala is a night for glitz, glamour, and belly laughs….but what you take home is so much more than that. I promise you will leave with a love so grand in your soul that it must find its way out into the world. And with a love like that floating around, how can we not change things?

There is still time to gather your friends and buy a table, purchase tickets, sponsorships or donate items for our auctions. ALL involvement supports individuals with Down syndrome right here in Syracuse and helping to change the way the world views Down syndrome!
