We can not boast enough about our amazing Volunteers and are so incredibly lucky when they choose GiGi’s Playhouse to give back to!

Meet Jorome, one of our versatile Volunteers willing to assist where needed. His knack for building friendships and an environment of fun is a perfect fit for GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego. Jorome’s enthusiasm can certainly be seen in any program he is involved in especially during our Friends, Fun and Fitness program where he is in a Lead Team rotation. He can also be found assisting in other programs, social media activities and during outreach tables.

We asked Jorome to share his thoughts on becoming a GiGi’s Playhouse Volunteer and here is what he shared:

How did I find GiGi’s? – “The first encounter I had with GiGi’s was when I bumped into its bright, colorful, and captivating banner during one of my sunset walks in San Diego. That led my curiosity and I to Google.com, which taught me about GiGi’s and its mission. Then shortly after, I found myself signing up to volunteer!”

What made you want to volunteer? – “I am a firm believer in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone, and volunteering at GiGi’s is a way for me to achieve that. In addition, I enjoy spreading positive energy and help bring out the potential in others.”

What is your favorite things about volunteering here at GiGi’s? –  “One of my favorite things about volunteering at GiGi’s is the friendships I have built. It is amazing to connect with such wonderful people, share meaningful experiences together, and treat each other like we are a one big family.

In addition, I love seeing all the smiles during activities and how everyone supports each other!”

What do you think we could improve on? – “I think GiGi’s Playhouse already does an incredible job creating a supportive and welcoming environment. One area for improvement might be to expand outreach efforts to engage more volunteers and/or participants, I believe more people could benefit from being part of our amazing community.”

Anything else you would like to add? “I just want to mention how grateful I am to be part of GiGi’s. From my first volunteering event until today, the amount of joy and kindness other volunteers and participants spread is incredibly motivating and heartwarming. It’s truly inspiring to see everyone’s dedication and the positive impact we create together, and I’m excited to continue contributing to such a wonderful community.”

We have to agree with Jorome in that GiGi’s Playhouse is quite a special, magical and welcoming place and we wouldn’t want it any other way!! Thank you Jorome for being part of GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego!!
