Supporting Early Language Development in Children with Down Syndrome: LMNOP at GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego
Exploring the Magic of LMNOP at GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego!
At GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego, we’re all about helping individuals with Down syndrome of all ages by offer foundational learning opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. Here is a look one of our most exciting and interactive programs for younger participants “LMNOP” – which stands for Language Music N’ Our Peeps!

This dynamic program is designed to engage both parents and their little ones in an adventure of learning, laughter, and growth. Perfect for parents, babies and toddlers ages prenatal to 36 months, LMNOP is all about supporting early language development in children with Down syndrome and fostering early communication skills through music, signs, gestures, and playful activities.
Why LMNOP is So Special
LMNOP isn’t just fun – it’s purposeful and progressive. The program starts by introducing basic communication skills for infants, guiding them as they begin to understand and express themselves. As the kiddos grow, LMNOP gently transitions them into more advanced skills, including participating in circle time, following directions, and engaging with peers. This progression is key in preparing them for their next big step – preschool!
The beauty of LMNOP lies in its multi-sensory approach. Through songs, stories, and sensory play, we encourage language development and social interaction, while also supporting cognitive and motor growth. Plus, as little ones start to crawl, sit up, and move around, LMNOP’s activities focus on improving both their gross and fine motor skills – a win-win for everyone!

Developed with Care and Expertise
The LMNOP curriculum was carefully created by a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to ensure it’s not only engaging, but also aligned with the unique learning needs of individuals with Down syndrome. The program was further refined and evaluated by the National Therapeutic Excellence Committee, guaranteeing that it meets the highest standards of educational and therapeutic excellence.
We take pride in the fact that every LMNOP session is led by trained program leaders, co-leaders, and volunteers who follow a structured curriculum with standardized tools and resources. This ensures that each child receives the personalized attention and guidance they need to thrive in this fun, interactive environment.
