Our Handbells team went out into the community to educate, bring smiles, and share our talents

It has been a privilege to direct the GiGi’s Playhouse Handbell Choir this past spring session.  Our team went out into the community to educate, bring smiles, and share our talents.  The most common statement heard was, “Please come back again!”  After each performance, I asked the choir to go out into the audience, shake hands, and introduce themselves.  In the beginning, this was awkward for some choir members to do.  However, by the time we gave our last performance, there was no sign of this former hesitation.  Our team went out into the audience with smiles, hands extended, and excitement on their faces.  Looking forward to a wonderful fall/winter session as we go out into the community during the Christmas season!

 

What a unique opportunity this program was thank you to our wonderful volunteer Rose Marie! Our participants discovered a new love for music and new confidence performing in front of large crowds. This program consisted of sign language to the song What a Wonderful World and color coded music for the handbell portion. A few of our participants played two handbells, two different colors. We love exposing our friends to new activities, while they are fun, they are also purposeful!
