Love Our Team – Lydia Olson

Lydia

Lydia comes to us from the Quad Cities Music Therapy Center. We appreciate Ms. Misty our LMNOP leader introducing her to us. Many of our teen and adult participants will recognize Lydia as she has led our summer music/drumming programs!

We asked Lydia is she had any advice for someone wanting to get involved with GiGi’s, she said:

“Be positive and welcoming. If you show that you are having a good time and are happy to be there it encourages participants.”

When asked why she chose to get involved: “I love music, but even more so I love sharing the joy of music with others. In our music therapy programs participants are able to connect with each other, work on communication skills, move to the music, work on some academic skills and possibly learn a little about music too through instrument playing, music games, singing, and more.”

Lydia’s #bestofall story: “My GiGi’s #BestofAll moment happens just about every time I’m able to see our participants. There is often so much joy and a sense of family that all you can do is smile when you are with them.”

Lydia recommends that others get involved as she has found it super rewarding to work as a program leader for GiGi’s!

Lydia proudly shared this fun fact: “I won a headstand competition when I was 10 years-old and I can still do a headstand now! 😁”

Thank you, Lydia, for sharing. We may need to see that headdstand!!
