2017 National GiGi’s Conference

This past week and weekend, staff and board members had the opportunity to attend the 2017 National GiGi’s conference in Schaumburg, IL. It was a great time of learning and inspiration. There were sessions to help with fundraising, programming, donation processing, and board engagement plus others. We were able to meet and network with staff and board members from across the network and hear stories that make your heart flutter and your eyes leak.

There were 260 attendees with representatives from 47 cities (34 current plus start-up locations) including the Mexico location. Everyone walked away having learned something new. Some even walked away with an award for their hard work!

Miss Jenn our Program Manager and Speech Pathologist was awarded the #generationG Champion Award at the dinner banquet on Saturday night. This was well deserved and due to all the work and dedication she put in to helping roll out the Amina Grace Speech and Language Therapy Program in addition to sitting on the national literacy and math committees and helping make changes in those programs that will not only affect our local Playhouse but will impact the GiGi’s network across the nation.

The conference focused on the fact that we are bigger better and stronger together when all GiGi’s locations work as a team. When this happens the message, awareness, and impact of programming can reach more. #BiggerBetter #StrongerTogether

We all came back re-energized and ready to implement the things we learned which includes planning for the upcoming year. First on our list is planning for the upcoming 2018 Gala. (pst… We need an event chairperson for this!) Be on the lookout as information about the Gala comes out. Also, be on the lookout for an upcoming blog from Jenn about what the #generationG Champion Award means to her and why it is such an honor to have received it.
