Michaela – Best of All

Michaela was chosen as our recent Participant Spotlight.

This is her first time ever participating in one-on-one programs here at the Playhouse.

She is participating in math tutoring with Ms. Margaret and speech with Ms. Ann. At the beginning of the fall session, she was a little unsure but each week she comes she is more aware of the routine and expectations.

#Bestofall She now walks in the front door and heads right to the learning lab!

We are so proud of her, her participation, and the progress she is making. Keep up the good work Michaela!

The Principles of our GiGi’s One-one-One Programs are to:

  • Teach using materials that are meaningful and relevant to the student to maximize interest.
  • Teach with a multi-sensory approach to build confidence and reinforce learning.
  • Teach students to  practice,  transfer  and  generalize  newly learned skills.
  • Teach students to comprehend and use information gained from reading to apply to their real-world experiences.

All tutoring resources are customized to each student’s interests and abilities and are built based on the ways in which individuals with Down syndrome learn best. We begin at a student’s current ability and build from that point.  Purposeful progressions lead to an increase of skills and self-confidence. Materials are also available to take home for reinforcement and practice in between lessons
