Welcome Fall 2020 Interns

We are lucky this fall to have several interns helping with fundraising and programming.

Please help us welcome Lizzie, Maddi, and Sadie!

Elizabeth (Lizzie)

Here’s a little about Lizzie.

She is from Dixon, IL, and is a junior at Augustana College.

She majors in business administration and English and is involved in the Women’s Track and Field team, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, The Gray Matters, and Sigma Pi Delta.

She is currently volunteering as the Fundraising Intern at GiGi’s Quad Cities and enjoys the hands-on experience that it offers as well as the community.

She says, “GiGi’s is such a kind, welcoming place to be, and everyone is so passionate about what they do every day.”

She is excited to learn more about the importance of fundraising and how it impacts non-profit organizations like GiGi’s.

Maddison (Maddi)

Hi my name Maddison Campbell is a senior at St. Ambrose University, in Davenport, IA. However, my hometown is Washington, IL which is located about 20 minutes outside of Peoria. I am a psychology major with two minors, those being biology and communications. I will be graduating this December and returning home where I have accepted a position as a rehabilitation aide at an outpatient clinic with Professional Therapy Services (PTS) through Unity Point. Fall 2021, I will return to school to complete my master’s in occupational therapy. I have actively been involved in Dance Marathon for the past four years. We plan year-round events and raise money to give back to local families that are fighting pediatric illnesses at the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital. At school I am involved in a supervised psychology practicum which is what led me to GiGi’s Playhouse. I am one of the literacy tutors at GiGi’s Playhouse this fall. I am also working alongside another student intern to implement GiGi’s Kitchen!! We have been working very hard to come up with creative, and delicious, recipes and putting together kits for each participant to receive for each six weeks that the program runs. I am so excited to be given this opportunity and hope that I can be an asset to everyone at GiGi’s Playhouse!

Sadie

Hello, my name is Sadie Espino and I am currently a senior at St. Ambrose University in Davenport Iowa. I am pursuing a major in Speech and Language Pathology. My hope is to eventually move out of Illinois and work with children in the clinical setting. I come from Annawan Illinois, Go Braves!

I love to read, draw, and dance around the kitchen with my family! I am a family oriented person and enjoy spending as much time with them as I can. I am child number three out of four in my family. I am working alongside Maddi to implement GiGi’s Kitchen this fall and tutoring too and can’t wait to become part of the GiGi’s community as an intern.

We are excited, blessed, and thankful to have these young ladies volunteering this fall. If you see them, be sure to introduce yourself because they are eager to meet as many of our families as possible.

PS Ava the Marketing Intern that we introduced to you a few months ago is also still volunteering behind the scenes. She graciously offered to stay on longer than originally planned to help. If you missed her welcome blog, it can be seen here.

Many thanks to all the volunteers that have continued to make a difference here at GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities in the past few months despite COVID and the restrictions it has put on our programs and events. It truly is inspirational to have you all here lending a helping hand.
