Shark Teeth

SHARK TEETH

In working with Leah during a recent Speech and Language session, a major breakthrough happened when we called her smile, “shark teeth”.  This was while working in a mirror to get proper teeth and tongue placement for making speech sounds.  It was difficult to get her teeth closed and showing so I asked Leah to smile like a shark and gave a big open lip smile/grimace. She did it perfectly and I said it was the best shark teeth I had ever seen.  This became the new prompt for good oral-motor placement to make some difficult speech sounds and Leah was able to do it over and over doing her #BESTOFALL.

Who knew “shark teeth” would be such a great speech tool?

We sadly did not get a picture of Leah and her shark teeth but here she is working hard nonetheless.
