Game On!

Games, games, and more games, there are just so many to choose from. Whether it’s Uno, Dominoes, or Sorry, games are fun, but they are also a purposeful learning tool

Have you ever stopped to think about how many skills are involved in playing a game?

You have to read the directions to play, you might have to add and subtract points, and of course, you have to be able to talk with and listen to the people you are playing with.

Games require literacy, math, and speech skills, but they also require some strategic thinking, fine motor skills to handle the cards or game pieces, social skills, and good sportsmanship. Game play is a great way to work on all of these skills without making it feel like work! Plus, it’s FUN!

That is why we have rolled out three different games groups for this winter/spring:

  • Fantastic Friends: Games Group for our adult participants (18+)
  • Teen Tastic: Games Group for our teen friends (13-17)
  • Kids Club: Games Group for school-age participants 5-12 years old

The adults will meet on Wednesdays in January from 5-6 pm with the wonderful Maryann as the program leader.

The teens will meet on Wednesdays in February and the beginning of March for 4 weeks from 5:30-6:30 pm, also with Maryann leading, and the kids will meet on Wednesdays in April from 5:30-6:30 with Maddie and Ann leading.

We sincerely hope you’ll take the opportunity to join these programs!

The added bonus is our friends will be given their own copy of the game to continue playing at home.

Don’t wait, register on the website calendar today!

Game on, friends!
