drumming the night away

Last week, we had a community member come to the Playhouse to share her drums and other musical items. She is from the Clinton, IA area. She is the Early Childhood Iowa Director for Clinton and Jackson Counties and the Community Partnerships for Protecting Children Coordinator for Scott, Clinton, and Jackson Counties. It was amazing to have her come to the Playhouse. She was accepting of our participants, generous with her time and materials, and kind to everyone that was there. A true example of #generationG. Gwen sang, danced, and marched with our Fantastic Friends. She also taught them some drum rhythms. I believe she enjoyed the evening almost as much as our participants did.

Gwen was unable to be here on Saturday for Leaps and Bounds & Playhouse Pals but those friends were also able to enjoy her materials. We are thankful for the two new volunteers that graciously took the lead and introduced the younger friends to the art of drumming.

We hope she will come back again sometime soon but we also want to encourage others like her to come and share their talents, expertise and materials with our participants. If you know someone that has something to share, please tell them to contact us. If it’s YOU, don’t be shy! We are a friendly group and are always excited to have visitors.

If you’d like to stop by for a visit, send us an email at quadciites@gigisplayhouse.org or call 309-762-PLAY (7529).
