November is a month of giving thanks and we at GiGi’s Playhouse want to take this month to thank our team behind the scenes – our board members.  Each GiGi’s Playhouse is governed by a local Board of Managers.  This board is made up of a diverse group of individuals who work together to make decisions on the growth and financial health of the Playhouse while carrying out the GiGi’s Playhouse mission.  Today we would like to introduce you to Board Secretary, Elizabeth Richmiller:

My name is Elizabeth Richmiller, and I am a GiGi’s Playhouse Board Member since 2014. I grew up in Moline, Illinois with my parents and younger sister. I attended the University of Missouri where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing along with my Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Pediatrics. I practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the Pediatric Group in Moline and East Moline. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Jon, and we live in Bettendorf. We enjoy golfing, running, and traveling.

I was interested in joining the GiGi’s Playhouse Board after caring for many patients with Down Syndrome over my years as a pediatric nurse, and experiencing the love and joy they bring to their families and communities. I completed my Doctoral Dissertation on Coping and Support for Siblings of Children with Chronic Illness, and I spent a great amount of time getting to know siblings, parents, and children with a variety of health and genetic conditions. This experience led to my desire to take on a role with an organization that supports families and children and leads to improved outcomes, increased knowledge, and social understanding. I am happy to be a part of the Playhouse!
