2026 GiGi’s 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk & Kids Dash

Join GiGi’s for the annual 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk, and Kids Dash for Down syndrome!

This event is FANTASTIC 4 everyone!

EVERYONE is welcome. Whether you’re running, walking, rolling, pushing a stroller, or just coming to cheer, you belong at the GiGi’s 5K. You can even help without being there in person!

This is a peer-to-peer fundraising event, meaning we count on you to spread the word, share the event, and invite your friends, family, and coworkers to join you. Social media is a great way to spread the word! There is a Facebook event set up linked here. Invite everyone you know!

It’s all about team spirit, and it is full of friendly competitions too!

💥 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
✅ Join or create a team (families, businesses, sports teams, and groups are encouraged)
✅ Donate to a team (not a runner or walker or maybe live far away and want to support)
✅ Become a sponsor (perfect for businesses, but families can sponsor too)
✅ Volunteer (perfect group volunteer activity – family with kids, teams, clubs, and coworkers)

Superhero Fundraising Teams

Thank you to all the team captains for believing in GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities and the GiGi’s mission of changing the way the world views Down syndrome. Without you, this event and our Playhouse programs would not be possible! Teams that raise $321 by May 1st will earn a personalized yard sign featured on the run/walk route. Additional team incentives are listed at the bottom of the page.

Volunteers Needed

Not a runner or walker, but want to be involved and help?

This event requires a lot of hands to run smoothly. There are volunteer opportunities the week prior to and the day of the event, too! We promise you will have FUN!

Raffle

A big part of this event is the awesome raffle. Thanks to generous donations, there are typically 75-100 raffle items/baskets. Can you help by donating an item or two? Raffle items can be dropped off at the Playhouse during business/staffed hours. Need some suggestions? Contact the Playhouse!

Love participating in the raffle by purchasing raffle tickets? YAY and thank you! The drawings will take place while everyone enjoys the 1-mile inspirational walk. Winners will be announced as walkers return to the park. We hope this will speed up the process!

📍Veteran’s Memorial Park

• 7:00 am – Onsite Registration & Packet Pick Up
• 8:00 am – 5K Run
• 9:30 am – Kids Dash
• 9:45 am – Announcements (top teams, superhero costumes, etc)
• 10:00 am – 1 Mile Walk & Raffle Drawing
• 10:30 am – Raffle Winners Announced

PARKING – Parking is limited at the park. If the lot is full, there is a small lot across the road, and there will also be shuttle buses to transport attendees between the Cumberland Square Mall parking lot and the park.

Packet/Shirt Pick-Up

• Thursday, June 4th, from 9 am – 7 pm at GiGi’s
• Friday, June 5th, from 9 am – 3 pm at GiGi’s
• Saturday, June 6th, from 7 am – 10 am at the park/event

Fundraising Goals

Our 2026 goal is to raise $106,200 to support the free, purposeful programs GiGi’s offers. Programs that empower local individuals with Down syndrome and provide meaningful support to their families. We’ve currently raised $57,000 and are in 10th place on the Playhouse leaderboard. We are typically in the top 5 out of all GiGi’s locations!

Team Fundraising Incentives

• All teams are mentioned from the stage during the event and are listed in a special blog on our website
• $321: Special social media shout-out and custom team yard sign (deadline is May 1^st)
• $500: Team name featured on event t-shirt and receives an event cheer kit (deadline is May 15^th)
• $1,321: Loved one featured in the 2027 GiGi’s QC Calendar (shared page)
• $3,210: Loved one featured in the 2027 GiGi’s QC Calendar (exclusive month of choice/only 12 available)

Top 5 Fundraising Teams

• 1st Place – Large window and VIP experience at the 2026 Gala
• 2nd Place – Small window and 2 tickets to the 2026 Gala
• 3rd Place – 11x 14 canvas photo displayed in the Playhouse
• 4th Place – 12×12 canvas photo displayed in the Playhouse
• 5th Place – 8×10 photo in frame displayed in the Playhouse
