Volunteer Spotlight: Justina Sparling

Today, on International Volunteer Day, we would like to spotlight the amazing GiGi’s Playhouse NYC volunteer, Justina Sparling. While new to our community, Justina has quickly become part of the family! Please enjoy the below Q&A with Justina.

Why did you decide to volunteer with GiGi’s NYC?

I wanted to be involved more in my NYC community and I also wanted to work with people who have Down syndrome because they are so wonderful. When I found GiGi’s, I was particularly drawn to their goal of promoting self-esteem. Self-esteem is so important!

What does GiGi’s NYC mean to you?

Community, confidence, camaraderie!

What do you do as a volunteer?

am a Program Monitor for TeenTastic on Fridays, and run the Rising Stars Improv class! The next Rising Stars class is on Monday, December 22 at 11AM EST, and I hope you will join us! You can learn more and register here: https://gigisplayhouse.org/newyork/calendar/special-event-rising-stars-improv-class/Only three spots are left, so act soon 😊

How do you enjoy spending your free time?

Reading, improv, hiking, and cleaning! I really like to clean!

What do you look forward to doing at the Playhouse once we can safely gather there again?

Improv in person is so fun and engaging. I can’t wait to play silly improv games in person. I also can’t wait to give hugs and high fives to everyone!

Thank you, Justina, for all that you bring to our community! You are greatly appreciated and we look forward to many more Rising Stars Improve classes.
