Participant Spotlight: Laura

GiGi’s NYC is super excited to spotlight our amazing community member, Laura! Laura is an articulate, intelligent, and confident individual who adds so much value to our community. Read all about her below:

1. When did you join the GiGi’s NYC community? I joined the GiGi’s NYC community because my mother, Tracy, is one of the founders.

2. How old are you? I am 18 years old. 

3. What GiGi’s NYC programs do you attend? 

• GiGiKitchen
• TeenTastic
• Friendsgiving  
• CO/LAB
• Summer Adventures
• GiGiFIT

4. How did you find out about GiGi’s NYC? My mother. 

5. Which programs have meant the most to you and why? CO/LAB meant the most because I got to show my dramatic side and I got to see my best friend. 

6. What does GiGi’s NYC mean to you? GiGi’s NYC means inclusion and acceptance. 

 7. What have you gained from our programs? How to go to college and live a normal college student life. 

 8. How do you enjoy spending your free time? 

• Writing songs and mixing beats 
• Making detox water 
• Starting my very first YouTube channel with my mom 
• Creating natural looks that all races and sexualities can accomplish

9. What achievements are you most proud of? What achievements can you connect to skills you have learned at GiGi’s NYC? Going to the buddy walks and raising awareness. 

 10. What do you want the GiGi’s NYC community to know? My mother built this place for me, and I am honored.

 11. What would you like to see from GiGi’s NYC in the future? Do you have any ideas for new programs or special events? I would like to start a mentorship program.
