Meet GiGi’s NYC Newest Ambassador, Danielle!

GiGi’s NYC is thrilled to introduce Danielle as our newest Ambassador. She was presented with this honor at our Annual Gala on 10/21/2021, pictured above. Danielle joined our community in July 2020 and has been an active member ever since. She joined us for our Summer Programs earlier this year and is a regular attendee at our Gratitude Art Committee (GAC) Program. She even introduced our other GAC participants to poetry writing and hosted them for a virtual poetry slam! Please read below to learn more about Danielle:

What does it mean to you to be GiGi’s NYC newest Ambassador?

To me it means that I can help others like me grow beyond social limits. It means I get to work with others to bring awareness to Down syndrome and to expand the program within New York City.

As our newest Ambassador, how would you like to see GiGi’s NYC grow? How do you see yourself contributing to our growth?
I would like to see GiGi’s NYC grow in many ways. For example, my peers and I can volunteer by reading for young children. We can also have a book drive for young children with Down syndrome and have a Poetry slam. I see myself contributing in various ways but more so by being a light and an example of, ‘ you can do anything you put your mind to.’
Tell us three important things about yourself everyone should know.
Three things about myself that everyone should know is I love to read, I love to help people out and I love to write.
What are your interests and hobbies?
My interests and hobbies are: I love bowling, writing, reading books, watching sports and baking.
What does Down syndrome awareness and acceptance look like to you?
To me, Down syndrome awareness and acceptance looks like my peers and I being seen for who we are. It means that society has an open mind and is willing to listen to our ideas. It means belonging and contributing to a better world and not being seen as a nobody.
What is an achievement you are most proud of?
I am most proud of helping pack and distribute food and supplies to people who were displaced by the volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year.
GiGi’s NYC congratulates Danielle on this amazing accomplishment. Stay tuned to see what she has in store for our community!
