July Fun!-Written by Fatima, GiGi’s NYC Participant

Happy July and hoping everyone is enjoying the summer so far!

I just want to share some special holidays that are celebrated in July. They include National Doctors Day, World Sports Journalists Day, the Fourth of July, National Fried Chicken Day, International Chess Day, National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, National Aunt and Uncle Day, National Coffee Milkshake Day, and National Cheesecake Day.

National Doctors Day was celebrated on Saturday, July 1st. To celebrate, people like to share heartfelt stories about doctors on social media with the hashtag #nationaldoctorsday. Some people also like to give their doctors gifts, such as flowers and chocolate. There are about 1,062,205 doctors in the United States, so there are a lot of doctors to celebrate on this day.

World Sports Journalists Day was celebrated on Sunday, July 2nd, and people do different types of activities. For example, a lot of people page through a sports segment in a newspaper or magazine. Also, people watch and report sporting events, follow up on leads for stories, and conduct research.

The Fourth of July took place on a Tuesday this year, and a lot of people celebrate this holiday by going on vacation, watching fireworks, and having a barbecue. This is an extra special holiday in my family because it’s also my mom’s birthday. I like to spend the Fourth of July with my family so that we can all celebrate my mom’s birthday.

National Fried Chicken Day was celebrated on Thursday, July 6th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by making fried chicken and french fries for dinner. Since fried chicken is one of my favorite foods to eat, I’m excited that this day exists. I like to get fried chicken from KFC. The best way to make fried chicken at home is in the air fryer. It’s delicious and healthier.

International Chess Day was celebrated on Thursday, July 20th, and a lot of people join a chess club in person or online. The steps of celebrating Chess Day are learning the basics, reading up on strategies, playing with friends, watching chess tournaments, and organizing a tournament of your own.

National Hot Fudge Sundae Day was celebrated on Tuesday, July 25th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by going to visit a fun local ice cream shop or simply whipping up a hot fudge sundae at home. This is one of the most popular ice cream sundaes since it’s very easy to make and incredibly delicious and sweet.

National Aunt and Uncle Day was celebrated on Wednesday, July 26th, and a great way to celebrate this day is to spend quality time with your aunts and uncles. This is a great way to show them how important they are to you and the meaning they add to your life.

National Coffee Milkshake Day was also celebrated on Wednesday, July 26th, and a lot of people do different things to celebrate the occasion, including drinking a cool coffee ice cream beverage that will hit the spot. Also, it’s easy to make a homemade coffee milkshake.

National Cheesecake Day is celebrated on Sunday, July 30th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by enjoying cheesecake with toppings for dessert. People also bake cheesecake at home. Some cheesecake flavors that I enjoy are strawberry cheesecake, s’mores cheesecake, and plain cheesecake.

Before I go, I would like to recommend my new favorite Italian restaurant. It is called Trattoria 35. I think it’s the best place to have pizza and pasta, etc. and I want you all to try it. My favorite foods to order here are pizza, fried calamari, baked clams, skirt steak, spaghetti and meatballs, manicotti, fettuccine alfredo, shrimp, eggplant parmigiana, eggplant rollatini, and fried mozzarella. The address is 213-15 35th Avenue Bayside, NY 11361.

Talk again in August!

Love always,

Fatima
