It’s Time to Get Ready for the Fall Season! Written by Fatima, GiGi’s NYC Participant

Wishing everyone a happy fall at GiGi’s NYC. I am hoping everyone was ready to go back to work and school this month!

I just want to share some important holidays to celebrate in September. For example, they include Labor Day, National Grandparents’ Day, National Cream Filled Donut Day, National Coloring Day, National Dance Day, National Daughter’s Day, and so many more.

Labor Day was celebrated on Monday, September 4th. On this day, a lot of people attend public events like parades and picnics. This is all about honoring and paying tribute to working Americans and all they have accomplished and contributed to this county.

National Grandparents’ Day was celebrated on Sunday, September 10th this year. A lot of people celebrate the occasion by spending more time with their grandparents by cooking a nice dinner or going out for dinner and paying for their meals. I took my grandparents Pop Pop and Maureen out for dinner on this day, and I paid for it using my credit card.

National Cream Filled Donut Day and National Coloring Day were celebrated on Thursday, September 14th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by enjoying donuts with cream filling. My favorite donuts are homemade Boston cream with chocolate frosting, chocolate eclairs, and jelly donuts. Also, thousands of people enjoy coloring on paper and in coloring books during their free time.

National Dance Day is celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 2023. A lot of people celebrate the occasion by enjoying music to dance to with loved ones. On this day I am inviting more people from GiGi’s NYC to join Dancing Dreams since I have been dancing here for almost 10 years. This is where I met my helper, Laura. Dance class is held every Thursday at 6:00pm in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center in Bayside. September 16th is also my cousins’ 13th birthday. They are twins, and their names are Max and Lily. I look forward to celebrating their birthday at Citi Field.

National Daughter’s Day is celebrated on Monday, September 25th, and on the occasion we always celebrate and cherish our daughters who bring us a lot of love and joy into our lives. I am excited to be celebrated as a daughter of Liaquat Mirza and Denise Supon on this occasion. I would like to go out for a late dinner in Suffolk County on Long Island with my parents, my brother Harris, my boyfriend Peter, and his family.

I would love to recommend The Neptune Diner. It is my new favorite restaurant and it is located at 35-01 Bell Blvd., Bayside, NY 11361. My favorite dishes are the mozzarella sticks, gyro platter, pancakes and waffles with sausage and bacon, homemade half fried chicken, homemade fish and chips, and penne alla vodka. They also have some great items on the children’s menu like the spaghetti and meatballs, French toast, and BLT sandwich with onion rings and coleslaw on the side.

Looking forward to a great fall with everyone at the playhouse this September.

Extra love,
Fatima
