Have you heard of GiGi’s Playhouse NYC TableTalk?

Welcome to Parent/Caregiver TableTalk, created by GiGi’s Playhouse NYC’s Outreach Committee for our Down syndrome community parents and caregivers. It’s a platform where our voices can be shared openly and freely on current topics, family matters, self-care and much more. It’s a place where recipes and stories are shared like we would do across the table, coffee cup in hand, with a friend or groups of friends.

Below are quotes from parents and caregivers who have attended TableTalk:

“As a mother of a 16 year old young man diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Parent/Caregiver TableTalk allows me to share and exchange life experiences and recommendations with my community.”

“As a new member, it has been easy to develop a trust relationship with these parents who are traveling the same journey.”

“This gives me a place to speak freely about my experiences as a parent of a young adult with DS. The other people here likely have the same concern and feelings that I have, and it’s nice to be amongst people who understand me.”

“I find the TableTalk to be helpful to me. It is a platform that is non judgmental and focuses on supporting issues, challenges, and or concerns parents/caregivers experience in our daily lives raising/caring for individuals with intellect challenges. I appreciate the discussions and the expressions of all the participants. Thank you for this platform.”

Parent/Caregiver TableTalk is a portrait of our community. Participants see the trust in each others’ eyes, hear the unity in each others’ voices and the empathy in the hearts of their fellow comrades.

Join us this summer, on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month 8:30pm-9:30pm at any time during that hour. The conversation moves swiftly. There is always something to learn and share. You are always welcome at TableTalk, at any time.

Yours truly,

The GiGi’s NYC Outreach Committee
