GiGi’s NYC attends National Conference

Members of the GiGi’s Playhouse NYC Team attended the national conference at GiGi’s headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.  It was a weekend of inspiration, meeting the passionate people from across the country who make GiGi’s a reality in their communities.  In all, 38 playhouses were represented, an amazing indicator of how the network is growing! We’re excited to bring everything we learned back to our Harlem location.

Notably, we will be massively upgrading our technological framework across the network, improving our ability to share information and ideas between Playhouses and families.  We also will be rolling out new therapeutic and educational resources for all of our programs.

Our motto at GiGi’s is ”Best of All”.  Each day we ask participants, families, staff, and volunteers to strive to be a little bit better each day.  It was an exciting year at GiGi’s Playhouse NYC, with the launch of new Summer Adventures and Summer Clubhouse programs, Brooklyn Pilot programs (which will be coming back soon!), and the upcoming launch of our one-on-one literacy tutoring program.  The National Conference was motivation to build on everything we’ve accomplished and continue to grow and be our Best of All!

NYC Playhouse Recognized for outstanding community impact

GiGi’s Playhouse NYC was honored to be chosen among the whole national network for the Star Struck Award for outstanding community impact.  As one of the only Urban GiGi’s Playhouse in the country, we have had to innovate and adapt to better serve our community.  By piloting satellite programs, offering 100% free programs including summer camps, and continuing to support and engage Spanish-speaking families in our community, we have worked to remove many of the common barriers to resources.  We were happy to accept this recognition, and hope to continue to expand our footprint across the five boroughs.
