Back to School
by GiGi’s Playhouse NYC Board Member Saudia Ally
With the first day of school in New York City just around the corner, why not make it memorable with back-to-school printables as a snapshot of what your child is thinking, feeling and wanting to wear on the big day.
We all know the back-to-school season can be exciting, stressful, and everything in between! Parents and kids alike are probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and maybe even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while.
Back-to-school time brings many changes for children and their families. Whether it’s the first day of kindergarten or first grade, or starting at a new preschool or childcare setting, the process can seem overwhelming and a bit intimidating. While these transitions can be challenging, they also provide an exciting opportunity for children to learn and grow.
Make it memorable with these FREE Back to School Printables! You don’t have to be super crafty to preserve the moment with an “All About Me” questionnaire, courtesy of yellowblissroad.com. “It’s perfect to help remember where your kids were…as they entered each grade in school, and will be so much fun to look back at the end of the year and see how much their answers change,” states blog owner, Kristin, who created the graphics. They range from preschool to twelfth grade.
Enjoy sharing in the fun of the first day!
Saudia, a refreshing post. My grandson loves school though he had mixed feelings about going back after a three week break. Louis actually goes to school year round. He is now in the 3rd-4th grade. Part of his love for learning had its foundation in our Literacy Program at GiGi’s Playhouse NYC. Thank you Benny and all literacy volunteers. Grandparents get excited about the first day of school too. I can’t wait ’til Louis’ first day of college. A “Back To School Printable”, a hard copy, is a great way to memorialize your child’s first day. Readers, what are your comments? Richard Reilly – The Grandparent Connection.
