Community Connection with Kimblewick!

In October we were connected with Kimblewick in Westfield! Their Lifestyle Director, Claire, has a few direct connections to Down syndrome which leveraged her desire to support GiGi’s Indy during Down Syndrome Awareness Month! We were THRILLED to partner with Kimblewick to spread acceptance for those with Down syndrome to a community that we typically would not see in the Playhouse. Thank you, Claire and Kimblewick!

“I first learned of GiGi’s many years ago as my godson, Theo has Down syndrome. He actually hosted one of his birthday parties at the Playhouse! In 2019 my niece, Genevieve (whom we call Gigi!) was born with Down syndrome. I have a special place in my heart for the community and want to serve in any way I am able.

Each month our community selects a nonprofit of the month to support. October was the perfect month to support GiGi’s as it is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. I worked with the GiGi’s staff, and they compiled a list of items needed for the Playhouse. My homeowners donated items all month long and their generosity shined through!

Additionally, we hosted our first Chili Cook-Off and half our proceeds — $200 — from the event were donated to GiGi’s!”
