Daniel’s Story: A leader Making a Difference

Daniel has been a long-time participant at GiGi’s Playhouse, engaging in various programs such as 1:1 tutoring, the Amina Grace Speech and Language program, GiGi’s Kitchen, and GiGiFIT. He also spends his free time working at a local fitness club, a milestone he recently celebrated — 13 years on the job!

We want to recognize Daniel for taking on a new role as an official volunteer for our GiGiFIT evening program. He initially joined the class as a participant, and after just a few sessions, it became clear that he was excelling at the movements and even making helpful suggestions about what should come next in the lesson. Daniel started bringing the program cards each week and showed an enthusiastic interest in assisting with the class.

After discussing with other program volunteers, we approached Daniel about the possibility of becoming a volunteer himself. His response was heartwarming— he shared that he was “very honored and excited to have this opportunity.”

Now, after completing the onboarding process, including virtual training, Daniel has officially been a volunteer for two weeks. He has quickly become a role model for his peers, and it’s clear that his presence is making a positive impact. All the students in the program seem more engaged and motivated, since he has taken on this role.
