A Gift of True JOY!!

Volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse isn’t just sharing your time, its finding a new meaning to life and being inspired.  Learning we aren’t that much difference than each other.  Finding courage to believe and spread the message of acceptance for all.  It’s becoming generation G everyday!  Check out what one of new program leaders and tutor has to say about volunteering.

“Every time I visit GiGi’s Playhouse I walk away with gift of true joy. We all have moments in our lives that inspire us, but I marvel at the individuals I encounter at GiGi’s Playhouse in Hoffman Estates.

The parents are compassionate, enthusiastic and devoted.  The staff have a passion for every individual who walks through the door and encourages and supports the entire family as a whole. The children I’ve met bring a new sense of hope and positivity into my life.  The teens who allow me to “hang out” with them at Teen Tastic and have shown me that SO much is possible if they are just given a chance and a little encouragement. I love watching them just be who they are with each other and how they encourage one another to try even if we are just playing minute to win-it games with clothes pins.  New friends are welcomed like long-lost friends; and smiles and laughter come easily.

I love that wonderful educators have developed specialized programs in math and literacy to meet our students learning needs.  One day a week using the math program I meet with a couple of students and work on basic math skills. In a few short weeks I have learned that my students have attitudes, love music, sports, and hate doing homework with their parents as much as my girls do.  As a volunteer I can truly say I receive 10 times what I give.  The hugs, high fives, and grateful smiles from parents make every moment inspirational!”
