Getting to know Aubrey

If you have attended LMNOP, GiGi Kitchen Adult, or even stepped into GiGi’s Playhouse in Hoffman Estates, you may have seen Aubrey’s smiling face around the playhouse. Aubrey is one of GiGi Ambassadors and she has a heart of gold. She is always willing to give a helping hand and participate in any program at GiGi’s. We had the privilege to ask Aubrey some questions and our first question was, “Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your involvement at GiGi’s?”

“My name is Aubrey Soukop! I am 26 years old. At GiGi’s Playhouse, I have participated in GiGiU, Hugs & Mugs, GiGi Professional, GiGi Kitchen, GiGiFIT, and now GiGi Ambassadors. My favorite program at GiGi’s is GiGi Kitchen. I like to go swimming at our local community pool, go shopping with my mom and getting a flavored water, and go to Starbucks with my sister Alayna. A fun fact about me is that I love to swing in my backyard and listen to music.”

Now we all know a little bit more about the lovely Aubrey and what she has accomplished! How incredible is she! Our next question was, “What is it is like to be a part of GiGi Ambassadors?”

“I am a part of the first group of GiGi Ambassadors. In this program, I will learn appropriate and inappropriate behaviors in a work place, how to give a tour of the playhouse, giving speeches in the community, and I will shadow different departments at GiGi’s Playhouse. I am looking forward to being an Ambassador because I love to learn how to be a leader. I want to be a good example to others and be a role model for young kids in the playhouse. I want them to look up to me.”

What an honor it is to have Aubrey inform us all on what this program is all about! Thank you for your insight, Aubrey, and we hope more adults follow in your footsteps! Our last question to Aubrey was, “What is a goal you set for your future self?”

One goal I have for the future is to be a teacher. I want to teach younger kids with Down syndrome in other programs at GiGi’s Playhouse. I would love to give more speeches to educate kids, teens, and older adults more about kindness and acceptance for people with Down syndrome.”

Wow! What amazing words from such a young woman! We are so incredibly lucky to learn more about Aubrey and hope nothing but the best for her! Thank you for telling us more about you, as well as our fantastic GiGi Ambassador Program! We hope you continue to grow and hope your goal becomes a reality someday soon. Thanks again Aubrey and keep up the wonderful work!
