Best of All: Zach Brings Home Gold at the Special Olympics!
We’re proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by Zach, who recently earned a gold medal at the Special Olympics in the benchpress competition! His strength, determination, and hard work paid off in a big way, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share his success.
What Are the Special Olympics?
The Special Olympics is a global movement that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities through the joy of sport. Founded in 1968, the organization now serves over five million athletes across 200 countries, offering year-round training and competitions in a variety of Olympic-style sports.
The mission of the Special Olympics goes far beyond the playing field. It promotes inclusion, confidence, health, and community by giving athletes of all abilities the chance to grow, compete, and be celebrated.
Zach’s Journey to Gold
Zach competed in the bench-press event—one of the three disciplines in Special Olympics powerlifting, alongside the squat and bench press. The bench-press is a true test of strength, where athletes lay on a bench and lift a certain amount of weight from their chest until the arms are fully extended. It requires focus, form, and an immense amount of physical and mental toughness.
With months of training behind him, he delivered a powerful and successful lift that secured him first place and his gold medal!
Zach’s victory is about more than a single lift—it’s about personal growth, resilience, and being part of a movement that celebrates every athlete’s potential. He trained hard, stayed focused, and represented his community with heart and determination. His accomplishment reminds us all of what’s possible when we support each other and believe in ourselves.
Congratulations, Zach! Your gold medal is well-earned, and your journey continues to inspire everyone around you.
