My Experience as a Literacy Tutor!

My name is Gene and I wanted to share a little bit about my experience as a literacy tutor at GiGi’s Playhouse Hoffman Estates.  I have spent almost 30 hours so far working with Chris. Chris is an adult student that I work with in literacy every week.  At first,  Chris was a very slow reader when working with him on various level A-Z Raz Kids books. He was also struggling to understand what he was reading.  After many tutoring sessions of working with him, Chris has improved tremendously,  however he still has to work very hard every week on his comprehenion and speed.  He now reads a lot faster and is understanding what he has read.  I have worked with Special Olympics in the past and seen improvement in clients physical ability, but GiGi’s is different.  Working with Chris, I see improvement in both his speech, comprehension, and reading speed. He is a joy to work with and I hope I can continue working with Chris as I volunteer with GiGi’s Playhouse.
