6th day of Fitness

6th day of Fitness- Anterior/Posterior tilts

Goal of movement- the goal of the forward/backward tilts is to calibrate the visual-vestibular coordination.  The forward and backward movements challenge the eyes to refocus on the environment as it moves closer and farther from the head as the body moves in space. this helps to coordinate the visual and vestibular systems, making balance easier and more reliable!  Additionally, the feet “learn” to use all of the small muscles that may be less active due to overpronation or low muscle tone

Overstimulation should be avoided!!  STOP activity if: excessive yawning, changes in skin color, headache, prolonged dizziness, pupil dilation or nausea occur.

Start with the first progression, if it is too easy then progress to the next progression until you are feeling that you are being challenged, but still able to maintain the integrity of the exercise. Remember to take pictures/videos, continue working on exercises previous and record all in 12 Days of Fitness tracker.

Progressions:

  1.  A/P tilts with visual cues
  2. A/P tilts without visual cues
  3. A/P tilts with single leg hold
