Meet Tony: A Hero and New Volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse El Paso

At GiGi’s Playhouse El Paso, we pride ourselves on creating lasting connections that go beyond our programs and services. Today, we’re excited to introduce one of our newest volunteers, Tony—a man whose heart for service runs deep.

Tony, a former U.S. Army soldier, is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Like many of our amazing volunteers, Tony came to us through UTEP, which has been a fantastic source of support for our Playhouse. But what makes Tony’s story particularly special is the bond he has already formed with one of our beloved achievers.

At GiGi’s Playhouse, we call our participants “achievers,” and one of those achievers is also named Tony. From the moment the two Tonys met, there was an undeniable connection. They share more than just a name—they share a spirit of resilience, hard work, and determination.

During his first volunteer session, Tony the volunteer was moved to tears as he witnessed the pure joy, strength, and progress of his namesake achiever. It’s moments like these that remind us why our work is so important—not just for our achievers, but for everyone involved.

“It was a deeply emotional experience. Seeing how GiGi’s Playhouse empowers people of all abilities to reach their fullest potential is truly inspiring. Being a part of that journey is a privilege.”

Tony

Tony’s background in the military and his studies in Occupational Therapy provide him with a unique perspective on helping others thrive. His passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and his dedication to making a positive impact align perfectly with our mission here at GiGi’s Playhouse.

We are incredibly grateful to have Tony on board and look forward to the many ways he will contribute to our community. His journey is just beginning, and we know his story will inspire many others to get involved.

Welcome to the Playhouse, Tony! We’re honored to have you with us.
