Friday Friends Planting Night

friday friends had more than 40 participants enjoying a little karaoke fun, playing basketball, boogying down, and planting flowers! ????? planting is the perfect spring activity to welcome the warmer weather, learn about nature, and it’s also fun to get a little dirty! flowers are beautiful and bring happiness wherever they are planted (minus allergies?), but did you know that planting flowers has also been known to improve concentration and memory as well as reduce stress?? we love planting, and one of our friday friends participant’s mom shared that it’s her daughter’s “favorite activity,” so it was no surprise that friday friends had a blast!! we’re hoping to bring the fun outside again this summer with a friday friends cookout?!!

friday friends meets every friday from 7 to 9pm and it is open to adults of all abilities! interested in volunteering at friday friends? we’re always looking for more helpers and hosts to help out! we are currently seeking a host for the 4th friday of each month as well as helpers for every friday. send an email to volunteerdesmoines@gigisplayhouse.org, and we’ll get you more information!

Wow, definitely like this post. I did not know that planting flowers results in concentration and reduces stress. This cool to know. Thanks for being there for those in need. I used to work for an organization that cares for people with down syndrome and Karaoke was the favorite for my clients. It’s always nice to see those guys getting to live their lives.

What a nice experience I had.
