Callen’s Super Buddy

In all of his four years, Callen has never met a stranger. He greets everyone he passes with an enthusiastic “Hi!” He gets handed from adult to adult in pretty much every social situation he’s in. He high fives kids at the baseball fields and playgrounds. It is truly amazing how this tiny little kid brings together so many people every year from all corners of our family’s lives to walk on his team and support Gigi’s Playhouse. But no matter how friendly Callen can be, he reserves a special bond for his favorite super buddy…his brother, Brody.

Callen & Brody

Brody has always been very protective of his little brother. He gets upset when he thinks someone is not treating Callen kindly. Like any older sibling, he gets angry when Callen interrupts a game he’s playing or when Callen won’t get out of his room, but the annoyance is always short lived. Brody has a big responsibility when it comes to Team Carin’ for Callen. He is in charge of picking out the team shirt color. It’s likely he already has an idea in mind for this year.

Callen wants to be wherever Brody is all the time. They make each other laugh every day. The past few months have been especially telling of their relationship as Callen has been working on potty training. Some days Callen will only let poor Brody take him to the bathroom, and Brody does it without a second thought. It takes a pretty loving brother to do that.

We have been blessed by Gigi’s Playhouse through the resources they provide and the people we have met. It’s been an honor to have been a top fundraiser for the Buddy Walk, helping to further the reach of such an amazing organization. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish this year!

Callen’s super buddy Brody walks because he knows how special Callen is and wants the Buddy Walk to always be a special day for him. As the walk begins, Brody will proudly take Callen’s hand and guide him to the front of the team to lead the way around the lake. This will be short lived though, as Callen has never actually “walked” on a Buddy Walk. Instead for the entire walk, Callen will be handed from adult to adult until every team member gets a chance to hug their super buddy.
