 Des Moines volunteers make a difference every day at GiGi’s Playhouse. GiGi’s Playhouse recently honored its volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner hosted by its Board of Directors at Mama LaCona’s Restaurant. In 2013, GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines is thankful to have received over 1,467 hours of volunteer service from

Programs: Therapeutic & Social program volunteers help to support the program host, interact with the kids, set up and take down materials used for the program. If you are a therapist or educator and are interested in starting or running a program, let us know!tutoring from volunteers since the Literacy & Math programs began.   Waukee High School junior, Maddie Fung, joined her schools Silver Cord Program looking to volunteer somewhere where she could actually make a difference and maybe help people rather than just put in hours – she found the PERFECT fit with volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse. When asked what she receives by volunteering at GiGi’s Maddie emotionally replied, “It just makes me feel so happy to play with the kids and see how very happy they are- just to have me play with them. Maddie’s Mom, Jeanne, said “she knows Maddie is loving the time she spends with the kids at GiGi’s. We are glad to have found GiGi’s, we absolutely love to help out there! We may come to help out or assist in some way- but we are the ones who get the most out of it. The smiles, giggles and hugs make even the heavy lifting and hard work at the walk well worth it!”

Tutors: Literacy and Math programs have specific training for tutors which include observation hours. You can make a difference!
Administrative: Help with thank you letters, creating learning materials, database entry and more!
Events: Each Playhouse has exciting events that are run by volunteers!! We are always in need of volunteers for these events – we need your assistance!
Committee Members: Committee positions are open.
Group Volunteering: Have a group interested in volunteering together? Contact us and together we will set up your volunteer opportunities!
