Volunteer of the Month – Fiona!
At GiGi’s Playhouse Cleveland, we’re lucky to be surrounded by incredible people who give their time, energy, and heart to support our community—and this month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on our Volunteer of the Month: Fiona!

From the moment she walked into the Playhouse, Fiona brought a warmth and enthusiasm that’s hard to miss. A recent graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor’s in Health Science, she currently works as a therapy aide at Achievement Centers for Children, and she is preparing to begin her journey in CSU’s Occupational Therapy Program this fall. When she’s not helping others grow and thrive, you might find her hiking through the Metroparks, working on pottery, or whipping up something delicious in the kitchen (baking is her favorite hobby!).
Her GiGi’s journey began about a year and a half ago, sparked by glowing recommendations from fellow CSU students and a lasting impression from a presentation at Lakewood High School. Since then, she has become a vibrant part of the Playhouse, volunteering across GiGiFIT, Teen Tastic, and Destination Discovery.
What keeps her coming back? The magic of growth.
“Every time I am in the Playhouse, regardless of which program I’m here for, I get to see someone achieve a new goal,” Fiona says. “That’s what makes this place so special.”
Among the many moments that have touched her heart, one in particular stands out: “We were doing yoga at Teen Tastic, and one of our quieter friends took over leading everyone in the poses. It was such a beautiful and unexpected moment that demonstrated the importance of giving people the opportunity to show their talents and abilities.”
It’s that spirit of possibility, encouragement, and joyful surprises that keeps Fiona connected to GiGi’s Playhouse. “This is the warmest and most welcoming place you will ever experience,” she says. “There is a program for everyone, and all are welcome.”
To new volunteers, she offers this heartfelt piece of advice: “You have skills and talents you may be unaware of that can help you reach people in ways you could never imagine.”
