Programs for All Ages at GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago

Destination Discovery

Wednesday and Fridays from 10:00am – 12:00pm (No program week of Aug. 5th)

August Program Dates: Aug. 2nd, 14th, Aug. 21st & 23rd, Aug. 28th & 30th

Destination Discovery is an interactive and engaging program for participants of ALL AGES and their families. The program supports the development of motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. In addition, families have an opportunity to talk, share experiences and build relationships.

Pre-Crawlers/Crawlers and Walkers/Runners 

August 10th, 9:00am – 10:00am and 10:00am – 11:00am

The Crawlers and Walkers program focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through activities that are hands-on and fun! Social skills and language development will also be addressed, with focus on learning new words, following directions, and interacting with peers. Click the title of the program to RSVP!

LMNOP Language Music ‘N Our Peeps

August 24, 10:00am – 11:00am

LMNOP guides parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language based activities. Click the title above to RSVP for this program! 

Speech & Language Group

August 3rd, 10:00am – 11:00am

Speech and Language Group has parents and young children strengthening their communication skills, group participation skills, and other social interaction skills. They participate in story time, sing songs, and play games. This program is led by two wonderful Speech and Language Pathologist who have volunteered at GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago for a long time. Kids Club

August 17th, 10:00am – 11:00am

Kids’ Club is an interactive and engaging program that supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program is designed for children ages 8 – 12 years old. Click the title of the program to RSVP!

Open Play

August 24th from 11:00am – 12:00pm (following LMNOP)

Stay and play!  Open play gives families an opportunity to connect with other parents and children.  Volunteers will be ready to play so parents can enjoy a cup of coffee, an uninterrupted conversation or a few minutes to sit back and relax!

Dance & Yoga

Wednesdays 6:00pm – 7:00pm

On break: Restarts August 28th

This program promotes physical activity through pop and hip-hop based dance routines. It also incorporates yoga and other therapeutic based programming to support self-confidence, coordination, and body awareness. Please RSVP by clicking the link in the title. Art Explosion! Workshop 

Beginning September 7th – Every Saturday for 6 weeks, 11:30am – 1:00pm

Beginners and experts alike are invited to participate in this program, where they will be given an opportunity to test their abilities with multiple types of art media. Art Explosion! provides a space for kids to come express themselves, build confidence, and socialize with their peers.  Click the title to RSVP! RSVP is REQUIRED.

Dance & Cooking Club 

August 8th, 22nd Dance is from 5:00pm – 6:00pm and Cooking Club is from 6:00pm – 7:00pm

The teen Dance Program is for ages 13 and above. We will move to the music to stay fit and healthy!  Participants will learn different styles of dance and choreographed dance routines improving their coordination and muscle memory. Cooking Club focuses on healthy eating and cooking. Parents do not need to attend. RSVP by clicking the link in the title. Make sure you click on each date that you’d like to RSVP for!

Teen Tastic

August 1st, 15th 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Teen Tastic focuses on promoting teamwork and leadership through various activities such as planning events, playing games, and learning how to navigate through tough high school situations. Now, with the addition of fitness activities in a social setting. Please click the link in the title to RSVP.

EPIC Program For Adults (Empowerment, Participation, Independence, Community)

August 25th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm

The EPIC adult program provides opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence through goal oriented objectives. Intended for Individuals with Down syndrome ages 18+ RSVP by clicking the link in the program title.
