Art Explosion! Returns to the Gallery

Artists at GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago

Thanks to our incredible two program leaders, Bruce Dempsey and Jenny Popova, along with the hard work and dedication of the participants and other volunteers, we had another successful fall season of Art Explosion! This year, the class created their interpretations of Matisse’s cut-outs; Kandinsky’s circles; Jackson Pollack’s drip paintings; Edvard Munch’s The Scream; and Van Gogh’s Starry Night [over the Chicago skyline].  This year, the class worked with colored paper, stretched canvas, acrylic and fluorescent paints and they learned how to silkscreen! We are so excited to showcase the hard work of these 12 artists at Gallery Victor this December. Check out this time lapse of what goes on during this program.

Donations and Proceeds

Jon Scott of JS Graphics Inc. produced a print of each piece of art chosen for last year’s show. He has graciously offered to do it again. Both the original art work, and a printed copy will be on display for sale at Gallery Victor on December 1st from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. The original art work will be autographed and for sale for $350. The artist will receive 100% of the money made off of their original work. Printed copies of the art will be will have a price tag of $125, and GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago will receive the proceeds from each print sold. Thank you Victor Armendariz, owner of the gallery, for donating  a portion of his gallery space to GiGi’s Chicago and the Art Explosion! class. We hope to see you and your friends and family at this exhibit. You truly will be amazed at the quality of work these artists have created!
