We’re Back! Happy 2012 to our GiGi’s Community. We had a fabulous holiday, took some time to recharge and are ready to take on the year yet again! We’re gearing up for our Winter programming session (which begins next week), and have big plans. But first, time to meet the new board (same as the old board, really).
Moving into 2012, we’ve realigned many roles, with several of our board members taking on new responsibilities (or broadening old ones). Kim Hanna (mother of Jade, our calendar cover girl) is your new president. Sarah Koehn is the board’s new vice president. Claire Buckley is the board’s new secretary, and Tom Hall is continuing his job as treasurer.
The board has also implemented several new committees to help accomplish our goals for the year. Sarah Koehn will head up the Facilities and Events Committee. Brent Plunkett will lead the Fundraising Committee. Rhonda Schleis will oversee the Programming Committee, and Aaron Baar will head up Communications and Outreach. If you have any ideas for these areas or want to serve on these committees, let us know.
Rounding out our board, we have several at-large members to help set direction and fill-in as needs arise. These members are continuing board members Sean Milligan and Bob Foster, as well as new board members Matt McQuiston. We expect a few more to join up in the coming months, as well.
The Board is a great group of people who are truly dedicated to making GiGi’s Chicago as great as it can be. As we said a year ago at this time, Onward!
This Week
Wednesday, Jan. 11
Open Play
9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Same Fun. New Time. And there’s coffee, hot chocolate and tea, thanks to Keurig.
What are you doing Feb. 25th? Come to our Second Annual International Gala at the Belevedere Banquets in Elk Grove Village. (Registration is $125, and is available online.)
The event is always a great time, full of fun, laughter and a great place to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
In advance of the event, we’re looking for items for the silent auction. Some items that have worked well for us in the past include theater or sporting tickets, a hotel or spa gift certificate, dinner cruises and vacation housing opportunities (a summer home in Michigan, for instance). If you have a lead on any such items, let us know with a quick e-mail.
Also, we’re collecting wine for an “Instant Wine Cellar” to be sold through the Gala’s live auction. If, on your next visit to the Playhouse, you wanted to drop off a bottle of wine or two (we all have extras around the house), we’d appreciate it.
