New Accessible Entryways at GiGi’s Playhouse Canton

We’re excited to share an important update that makes our Playhouse even more welcoming and accessible for every individual and family we serve — we have new accessible entryways!

Accessibility is part of our commitment to creating a space where individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and our community feel confident, supported, and included from the very first step inside.

This project would not have been possible without the generosity and collaboration of incredible community partners. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Canton Area Buddy Walk for generously donating the mechanics that power our accessible doors. Their continued support helps ensure our Playhouse remains a space built on inclusion and opportunity.

We are also deeply thankful to Hilscher-Clarke Electric for coordinating the installation in partnership with Stark Glass. Their expertise and teamwork brought this project to life and ensured everything was installed safely and efficiently.

A Quick Note About the Doors

With the new installation, the doors are heavier than before. If you try to open them manually, you may notice they require a bit more muscle than our previous doors — and we’ve had a few visitors wonder if we were closed because of the extra force needed! We promise, we are still open 😊

The push-button access is there to make entry smooth and easy for everyone. We encourage all visitors to use the push button for convenient, accessible entry.
