Volunteer Spotlight: Melissa

Name: Melissa Quinlan

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a Marketing Communications Manager at The Timken Company and have had marketing roles over the past 15 years of my career. I am married with two girls (6 and 7) who also love to come to GiGi’s to help out!

We want to get to know you! What are some of your favorites? (food, color, season, activity, restaurant, place to shop, etc.)

Foodwise, I love sushi! I actually like all of the seasons and am glad to live in Ohio to get to experience each one – sometimes in one day! In my free time I love to run long distances. It makes me feel good both physically and mentally. For vacations, we are a big Disney family and visit often!

How did you learn about GiGi’s and what prompted you to become a volunteer?

I learned about GiGi’s from my two co-workers at Timken, Ben and Nicole Morrett. A big passion of mine is helping people achieve goals and reach their fullest potential. GiGi’s makes this possible for individuals in our community with Down syndrome.

Tell us more about what you do at the Playhouse!

I am currently the Marketing Chair and help strategize and organize our marketing efforts including social media, newsletters, brochures and overall ways to promote GiGi’s in the community.

What is your favorite experience you have had at the Playhouse?

Getting to meet all the amazing individuals! At GiGi’s there are so many activities for all ages to learn and do things just like everyone else.

Melissa has been a pivotal part of helping elevate our marketing efforts and build a sound strategy that let’s us spread our mission of acceptance for all. With her guidance, we are able to continue changing the way the world views Down syndrome through print and digital marketing, social media, and more. Not only that, but Melissa has felt so strongly about our purpose that she also joined our Board!
