Meet Brenna!

Brenna has been counting down the days to her birthday (August 29th) and now that it has passed, she deserves something else to celebrate…so let’s celebrate a Best of All moment with her!

Brenna is an active participant in many of our programs, from GiGiFIT to GiGi’s Kitchen, we see Brenna multiple times a week! Not only is she a master at the battle rope, but she has been improving her cooking skills and trying new things outside of her comfort zone! At the start of GiGi’s Kitchen this summer, Brenna was not very comfortable using a knife, explaining that it made her nervous. By the last couple of weeks in the kitchen, Brenna was cutting strawberries on her own with great precision and confidence. Brenna had an employment experience at Grinders where she was able to practice some of the skills she learned in GiGi’s Kitchen which led her to feeling 100% confident in her ability to cut strawberries for our fruit salad. Wonderful job, Bee!

Brenna shared:

“I love GiGi’s because I like volunteering here. I love cooking class and Teen Tastic and have fun in fitness. Thank you!”

More recently, Brenna has taken the skills she learned in the GiGi’s Kitchen Teen/Adult class and has begun volunteering in the GiGi’s Kitchen Kids classes to help some of our younger friends reach their Best of All! Brenna is also an ambassador on our Generation G Youth Board, helping spread the message of what it means to be accepting, generous, and kind each and every day.

GiGiFIT introduces the key movements of foundational, hip strengthening, and vestibular/balance exercises, making them successful to implement and practice at any stage of life! Focuses on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more. GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, pushing through barriers and building self-confidence.

GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, food preparation, social activities and a shared meal/snack. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palette expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. The GiGi’s Kitchen Adult program will build participants self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness!

Help us celebrate Brenna by wishing her happy birthday and a job well done in the comments!
