PDI Technologies Interns Lend a Hand in GiGi’s Kitchen Adults
At GiGi’s Playhouse, community partnerships mean everything and when those partnerships involve enthusiastic young people who want to make a difference, the impact is even sweeter!

This summer, we were thrilled to welcome a group of college interns from PDI Technologies to GiGi’s Kitchen Adult for a special service day. The visit was coordinated by one of our dedicated volunteers, Keri Michaelis, who has long been a champion of our mission and the adults we serve. Thanks to her thoughtful planning, the interns had the opportunity to step into the kitchen, roll up their sleeves, and work side by side with our participants as they prepared a delicious meal together. You may recognize Keri as a regular bEquals volunteer as her daughter, Nora, is the founder of that incredible teen group!
PDI Technologies is a global leader in helping convenience retail and petroleum wholesale businesses increase efficiency and profitability by securely connecting data and operations. With over 40 years of experience and a people-first approach, PDI supports businesses in everything from understanding consumer behavior to simplifying technology across the supply chain. Their commitment to creating exceptional customer experiences extends beyond the workplace—and into communities like ours.
GiGi’s Kitchen isn’t just about cooking, it’s about confidence, communication, and community. With the support of the PDI interns, our adults practiced essential life skills like meal prep, teamwork, and social interaction in a joyful and supportive environment. Whether it was chopping, mixing, measuring, or just sharing stories, the kitchen was full of energy and connection.
For the interns, it was a chance to see firsthand how inclusive spaces can empower individuals with Down syndrome to shine. For our participants, it was a reminder that their skills and personalities make a lasting impression.
We’re so grateful to PDI Technologies and to Keri Michaelis for making this day happen. Partnerships like this help us break down barriers and build a more inclusive world—one meal, one moment, and one friendship at a time.
Thank you, PDI! Come back anytime; GiGi’s Playhouse doors are always open!
